Psychotherapists often have challenges or questions in working with their individual and couples clients. The goal of our consultation and supervision services is to help you increase your self–confidence and competence, and expand your theoretical knowledge. At Guttman & Pearl Associates, consultation and supervision takes place in a safe environment, where we address your questions and any personal issues that may arise.
Consultation is provided in individual or group sessions conducted by Gail Guttman, LCSW, with the primary focus being couples and sex therapy. As a consultant to couples therapists for more than 30 years, Gail draws on a variety of relationship theories.
Gail consults with therapists who are trained in Imago Relationship Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the works of John Gottman and Stan Tatkin. Therapists who receive consultation from Gail experience a welcoming approach to all types of theories, as well as an opportunity to integrate different theoretical frameworks.
As a Certified Sex Therapy Supervisor by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Gail explores a variety of sex therapy topics. Therapists with limited knowledge of sex therapy become comfortable in approaching sexuality, while developing skills to help their clients with sexual concerns. She provides supervision to those who wish to become AASECT certified sex therapists and for those currently AASECT certified sex therapists who want to continue their professional development. Gail also provides supervision to AASECT Certified Sex Therapists who are working towards AASECT Sex Therapy Supervisors.
As a Certified Imago Consultant, Gail conducts individual and group consultation for newly trained Imago therapists who wish to become certified Imago Relationship Therapists. Consultation is available to seasoned Imago therapists who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in Imago therapy.
As a Certified Clinical Social Work Supervisor in the state of Maryland, Gail provides social workers the supervision needed to become licensed clinical social workers in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
