Susan Goldart has been a psychotherapist working with individuals and couples for more than 30 years.  She creates a trusting, collaborative relationship with her clients, through which they can heal from current and past challenges, and make changes to improve and vitalize their lives.

With couples, Susan teaches partners how to create safety for one another and relate with empathy and understanding rather than with judgment.  Keenly aware of the courage that each couple brings into therapy, she helps them to define and address their unique goals.  Susan works with committed couples of all sexual orientations, at all stages of relationship to enhance their emotional and sexual intimacy. She helps couples heal from betrayal when there has been a rupture due to infidelity.  If a couple is moving toward separation, Susan guides them to create and maintain respectful relationships, in which the needs of their children are protected.

With individual clients, Susan works with concerns that often create life stress such as relationship and sexuality, career, and the negotiation of life transitions.  When clients experience anxiety or depression, Susan helps them explore the past in order to let go of old thoughts and feelings that interfere with the present. She challenges negative thinking, and facilitates positive behavior changes.

Susan Goldart is certified by Imago Relationships International as an Imago Relationship and Singles Therapist, and Advanced Clinician.  She has extensive training in sex therapy and is experienced in treating sexual issues in individual and couples therapy.

Susan received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University, and a Doctor of Social Welfare (DSW) from Adelphi University.  She received a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychology and Psychoanalysis from the Graduate School of Psychology at New York University.

Susan Goldart has been a therapist with Guttman & Pearl Associates for 25 years.
