Harry Rieckelman believes a good psychotherapist helps clients feel safe, create realistic hope for the future, with clear self-awareness, and feel more alive.  Harry is an active therapist who gives honest feedback in a warm, constructive way. He sees the best in his clients and is curious and interested in their lives. Harry never minimizes or glosses over a person’s emotional pain. Instead, he encourages his clients to transform their pain, in order for them to live and work from a position of strength. He helps his clients integrate their inner thoughts, feelings and images with the reality of the external environment. In individual psychotherapy, Harry works with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, stress, addictions and low self-esteem.  He supports his clients to help them enhance their self-esteem, improve their personal relationships and feel more successful in life.  Harry specializes in working with adolescents.  Adolescents are encouraged to develop their own identity and navigate the challenges in their relationships with their parents and adults.

In couple’s therapy, Harry helps couples explore their conflicts, develop empathy for each other, and become more conscious of the effect of their actions on the relationship. In sex therapy, Harry understands that confiding in others about one’s sexuality is difficult. He teaches his clients how to gain a positive and healthy sexual relationship.  In a supportive and informative way and accepting way, clients can talk about their sexual issues.

Harry works with adolescents. He encourages them to develop their own identity and navigate the challenges in their relationships with their parents and other adults.

Harry has been in private practice for more than 35 years, and with Guttman & Pearl Associates for the past five years. He is certified by Imago Relationships International (IRI) as an Imago Relationship Couples and Singles Therapist. He is trained in sex therapy, as well as a Gestalt therapist by the Gestalt Institute of Washington, D.C.  He is a Certified Executive Coach through the Newfield Network and provides business coaching and family business consultation.  Prior to becoming a therapist, Harry was psychiatric technician at the Air Force. Harry received his MSW degree and his MFA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland.  He founded the Institute for Narrative Therapy. He works from an Object Relations theoretical model.
